Can anybody find anything unsafe about this crane worksite? Watch the video in the article.
Really un-believable. I wonder if they received an OSHA violation because of it?

Wouldn't happen on any job I've been on.

So if it's all hanging on the truck frame, what are those big metal cross bars for? All the stress is in the cables, if one of those broke it would get ugly real fast.

That was a very dangerous stunt.

Having owned a couple of Ford pickups, I know that frame was just seconds from rusting away completely...

How about the unattended crane while the frame was suspended...the entire rigging crew not wearing hard hats, all of the un-necessary people in the hazard area....the operator swinging the load over people standing below the load...All of camera.

If one of those shackles or cables had failed, the entire load would have shifted to one side, the only thing I saw holding the trucks on the supports was gravity. They would have slid off, falling away from the load...A single spud wrench falling 200' would have killed one of those guys wearing baseball caps instantly. If the rigging crew was not smart enough to wear hard hart, do you think they understood the weight rating of the shackles and cables?

Was it filmed in Russia or Hong Kong? If done here in the USA, OSHA would have a FINE time with the participants.

The only superior evidence is that which you haven't yet found.

Based upon the crane rental company name, it was probably filmed on the West Coast.

Not good at all no matter what country IMO. This isn't 1915.

Have you watched any documentaries on the filming of the movie "Midnight Rider?"

In that movie, the Director waived safety requirements in order to "get the shot" on a set of active train tracks. A young lady was hit by an oncoming train and died instantly. It was found that the death was attributable to the Director's actions.

Hollywood director pleads guilty to manslaughter in ‰Û÷Midnight Rider‰Ûª saga

I don't know who was responsible for waiving the safety requirements in this FORD promo, but it had the potential to have similar results.

I contacted the crane rental company as well as Ford Motor Company (media division), regarding the lack of safety and did not get a response back.
