Job Schedule Software?

Wondering what software others are using to keep track of jobs. Between research/field work/computing/drafting/office work etc. We have been using a "board" with all active jobs and moving sticky notes around to indicate field or office work that needs to be completed. It's very cumbersome just moving on to the next job/task. There are many programs out there and I don't know exactly which would fit our needs. We use ACT to cross reference new jobs with old jobs for research purposes. Anyone in similar situation that discovered something that works for them?

I'm using info retriever networked version for about 20 computers for about 9 years now. My database is extremely large so there is a lag when looking up longtime clients with many jobs. Their tech support seems to think I'm the only one with this issue so i feel the program doesn't work so well once you grow large. But it is extremely useful when used correctly.

look at it carefully before you commit to it. one major fault in it is that you cannot export the database should you decide to move to another software.

Would I recommend to a friend?: yes for a small firm looking for an easy way to make entries.
no for someone like me who needs dynamic programs that can change based on my size and needs

The company that I work for is very small and we use Google Calendar. Works well for us. I think there was a thread a couple of months back about this too. Search for it, it might have some good answers.

My big clients use Google calender to send appointments to our gmail account via a shared calender. This is great, but to deploy them to our field crews, they would all have to have the calender shared with them too.

So to get around this I just have someone just distribute the jobs for the day for fieldwork and then enter the workflow in info retriever. (Info retriver's scheduling cant sync with Google calender yet to my knowlege)

We use a combination of an excel sheet we made for all jobs in date order. Then some of us use google calendar to set appointments from that. I have used an android (google) phone since day one so I use google calendar for everything now. Jobs, dr appts, kids events, Thunder games, etc. all synced with SWMBO. It goes off more than my phone calls. :pinch:

You can export data from your Info-Retriever database

You can export your Info-Retriever Database using the Import/Export Utility.

Hi,

There are a lot of software solutions, both free and paid, that will do what you need. Have you ever tried Replicon's rostering software? Simple to use and integrated with quickbooks.

I would suggest to take a look at this software - http://www.replicon.com/olp/rostering-software.aspx . It is a cloud-based application and is one of the most complete and easiest to use that I've seen so far. Hope it will fulfill your requirements.

Personally, I use this application and I'm always update about the status of my resources and projects, how many resources are utilized, what will the be requirements in the future.

My wife uses something very simple and free to schedule and tract job progress. It's called Trello. From what I can see (I don't use it), you create an entry, then can schedule it and move it through the process (research, field, drafting, delivery, etc.) by dragging it with your mouse. I think it's "cloud" based because she can access it on her phone, Ipad, and desktop. She seems to like it, so if you want something simple, you can't beat the price.

We believe in having all features in one tool and so as to meet the requirements, we have been using the cloud based hours tracking tool from Replicon ( http://www.replicon.com/olp/hours-tracking-software.aspx ) that also keeps track of the tasks, projects in order to make the things happen in a effective manner. The remote locations people also gets tracked and the overall work process moves seamlessly.
