I was out west earlier this year visiting Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks, on the way home we stopped and saw Pompeys Pillar where Clark's inscription is still visible, very cool stuff.

Two year latter President Jefferson in his 6th annual message to Congress in part wrote:

"The expedition of Messrs. Lewis & Clarke for exploring the river Missouri, & the best communication from that to the Pacific ocean, has had all the success which could have been expected."

these men were truly Surveyors.
