@mightymoe?ÿ I know that they are making some large cell phones, with 2 days of battery life... One of those is on my want wish list too.
I think it is ANDROID though. Is that android, or Apple, or Twimble operating system? Or some new system? What is it? (Chronic curiosity drives me. )

It's Android,,,,,,I guess. However, I'm not using any of the phone capabilities. One of my annoying experiences with the collector was when I went to locate a 1/4 corner I turned on the collector and a woman's voice came on and repeated over and over "no Sim Card", "no Sim Card".?ÿ ?ÿ Yes I know I have no Sim Card, SHUT UP!!!!
It took a few minutes for me to shut her down, then she never spoke again and the DC worked flawlessly after that.
I can't say what I actually did to make her start yapping or stop, hopefully she won't talk ever again.?ÿ?ÿ
So Android and Access, Access is Trimble's field program.?ÿ
As far as the battery life, I turned it on at about 9am, left it on most of that day until 6:30pm and it still had a 60% life.?ÿ

I think that cell phone data collectors is where we are headed, with this whole data collector thing.

I know you don't have a DC on the Javad. I've used a number of DC's from the yellow brick, the Box of Knowledge, the TSC's, but I like this one better than any of the others.
However, it's not really cell phone size. It's a bunch bigger than any cell I've had and the battery is huge compared to a cell battery.
It is way lighter than the other DC's I've used and so much faster. It doesn't have a physical keyboard and that's the big drawback, one I'm happy to look past. Surveyors that are location/topo based in their work might be frustrated with it, but for me that drawback is outweighed by the positives.?ÿ
I really can't bring reading glasses with me, maybe I should anyway, yuck!
I don't go to the field without them...
I really can't bring reading glasses with me,
I wish somebody told me that about 20 years ago. It would have saved me a lot of trouble with lugging these things around. Bifocal safety glasses and bifocal sunglasses are good, too.?ÿ
