Is there a monument at the Eastern terminus of the Choctaw Meridian Base Line? I believe this is the angle point on the Mississippi-Alabama line.
Not sure if this is what you're looking for? it's late. I'm tired. Going to bed.
I like how they settled their land dispute:
"In about 1808 the two Native American peoples decided to settle their argument over control of the strip of land between the two rivers by a traditional ball game. The Choctaw won but the Creek were dissatisfied with the results. The two groups decided to let the women play, and the Choctaw women won as well, which settled the dispute."
Of course no surveyors were involved...that sucks.
Is this a trick question? The Choctaw Meridian runs north-south through Mississippi.

Yes, but the base line runs east and west.
The angle point in the MS AL state line is the corner of old Washington County. I am fairly sure that it has nothing to do with the Chocktaw base line. I would think that there would be a monument there, but I've never been to it, probably a couple hundred miles or so from me.
However, old Washington county line may have been on the base line, don't know about that.

Have you examined the GLO notes? The 1823 survey of the township in Alabama indicates a "post oak", if that tree is still there it would be a big one. The Mississippi surveys do not indicate a monument.
