Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has had success using wifi tethering on an iphone 4 with a Trimble TSC2 controller. I know it can't be done via bluetooth (i.e. dial-up networking).
Thanks
Jon
Had some success getting it to work, but it is not as fast as using a MiFi device that is dedicated soley for data.
Wifi tethering should working with anything that has a wifi... so there is not reason why it shouldn't work with the TSC2 as long as it has 802.11 wifi capabilities.
I could not get an iphone4 to tether to a tsc2, something with the windows security, but it works awesome with a tsc3(windows 7)
we have had NO success tethering an iPhone 4 to a TSC2.
The Windows Mobile 5 O/S on the TSC2 does not support the type of encryption that the iPhone uses.
Thanks all, appreciate the help. Unfortunately the responses confirmed that the iphone will NOT tether with a TSC2.

.
Pretty sure you'd have to "jailbreak" your iphone to get that to work.
i just jail broke my iPnone 4s running 5.1.1 (was very easy) and installed the MyFI 5.5 app that allows you to turn off the security. TSC2 will still not connect.
I have a tsc2 with firmware v5.0.3 running survey controller v12.45 connected to an iphone 4s (5.1.1) Jail broken. Using my MyWi v5.5 WiFi hotspot with no security and automatic sharing, my TSC2 will connect to the internet and receive corrections via VRS. I showed a rep from WDS in Austin today and he said it was the first he'd ever seen, but it doesn't seem as if I'm doing anything different. Perhaps it has something to do with the firmware on your TSC2?
However, I can't get it to work with a Sierra Wireless 4G LTE Tri-Fi hotspot unless I hook another mobile device up to the hotspot 1st. It makes no sense.
