Here is my list of study material and tools I'll be taking into the test. Does anyone having any suggested material to add.

Kansas Statues-Kansas Society of Land Surveyors
Instructions To The Surveyors General of Public Lands
1973 Manual of Instruction
Elementary Surveying and Geomatics- Wolf & Ghilani
Boundary Control & Legal Principles 5th Addition- Robilland,Wilson, & Brown
Advanced Land Descriptions- Cuomo & Minnick
Definitions of Surveying and Associated Terms- ACSM
3 Binders of Misc handouts from classes over last 15 years. GPS, PLSS, Formulas( Curves, Trig, Geometry, Conversions, ETC.), Legal Principles, ETC.
Dictionary
Programmed HP35 Land Surveyor's Workshops programming.

I'm trying to spend a minimum 2 hrs a day studying. If anyone has any suggestions on which subjects to focus on the most, or books I might want to look at buying, let me know. The LSIT Exam was very easy for me with just a HP33 (No Programs). I've been told it's harder than the PS Exam, by Licensed surveyors I know. Mostly due to the Math and no reference material aloud.

This site seems to have some good posts I think help as well.

Survey Workshop has a great 1 hr video about taking the exam. For anyone Sitting for Fundamental or License, I recommend it. Larry P. sent me a link to it, it was very informative.
Seventeen Days until Exam. I'm getting brain overload. lol

Any input would be welcomed.

Thank You
Mark

I've always liked this book:

http://books.google.com/books?id=CsWPAAAACAAJ&dq=in+conjunction+with+survey+boundary+control&hl=en&ei=lLCUTsDTNqPw0gH1lfWTCA&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=1&ved=0CC0Q6AEwAA

Also, be sure to have a copy of Black's Law Dictionary, unless that is what you meant by dictionary.

Don't forget ALTA/ACSM Standards. The new standards became effective 02/2011 so I'm not sure if they will be included on this exam but I would have both just in case. Also there are some FEMA questions as well.

Land Surveying Law by Robert Keen has been tremendous for me. It is filled with some great questions.

Where would I find the Fema regulations? It's been years since I've done any work on Elevation Certificates.

Thanks for the advise so far. I have the ALTA/ACSM Standards in one of my note books. I do need to read through them again.

Are you taking a state specific only test or are you taking the NCEES national PS exam?

If you're taking the National Exam, I can about guaranty you won't need any stuff on the PLSS. That's unless you take the state specific at the same time, then ignore any comment I make about the PLSS.:-P

I know you've heard and read this before, but if you don't know it by the time your exam comes, it's too late.

I took about 7 books, EC docs and the ALTA standards.

I know not everyone gets the same test but I used the EC docs, the ALTA standards and 2 of the books I had in my arsenal. Those were the ACSM definitions and Evidence and Procedures.

I had no time to fumble through Wolf's book and look up formulas.

If you follow the triage method and get through the easiest and work your way out to the brain stumblers, you'll have barely enough time to review your answers. At least that's the way I felt.

The ACSM Definitions is a must have. I think I used it more than any other book. I used my calculator on one problem on the P&P exam.

Mine just came in the mail today. I've been reading through it. My guess is it will be my most used source during the test. Only cost me $29 through Survey Workshops. At Amazon it was $45+, and some were used, Mine is new. lol. Great book.

Thank you again for the kind words Mark. I believe you will do well on the exam. It is obvious you are spending plenty of time preparing. That is one of the keys to success.

For those who might not know about the 1 hour presentation you mention. They can find it here.

Advice for persons studying for the FS or PS Exam.

There is no cost or obligation but you are required to give a name and email address before you can watch. We promise not to share your information with anyone else.
