...we had to steer the GPS satellites BY HAND!
😀 That's Great. I think I will do a gullible test on my kids with this one. So, much fun being a Dad.
I always tell my Grandkids...
I can remember when phones had to be screwed to the wall and televisions didn't. 😉

I can remember when you had to get up off of the couch to change TV channels.
Remote control
My father had me to get up and change the channels. Of course we only got three and when you changed channels you also had to turn the rotor to the direction of the broadcast antenna.

Ditto. Dad had a remote....us. Every house had a little antenna tower next to the house with an antenna very high on the top and we had to aim the antenna for the best signal with a rotor.
antenna rotors
A few years ago I happened by a rummage sale (imagine that! :snarky: ) and saw one of the big knob type rotor control that sat on top of everybody's tv:
it had a label that said something like "$25 - military radar navigation device"..or some such nonsense. I just had to chuckle and walk away...
antenna rotors
In a city these days, if you had tried to explain it to them you'd have had to start by explaining what a TV antenna was.
antenna rotors
We had one neighbor who had one of those thingies. Everyone else did not. Initially, there was only one station, so everyone simply pointed their antenna in that direction. When a second one came on line it was within a couple degrees of being on the same bearing from our house. Eventually, a UHF station came along and it was on a bearing between the first two.
