Have never actually given an instrument a name, it was more in the way I talked and appreciated her that mattered....and meant every word.
They are also easy to replace with a new model and retire the older one to the shelf.
Hope you have a plan when Fred or Gracie talks back.....
Our R8 is "Trinity".

I have a gargoyle in my rock garden/frog pond I call Hank, after my uncle...ugly old cusses, the both of them!
This reminds me of the time I was hired to log some beetle kill off of a retired couples parcel.
I show up one morning in my beat up old rubber tired skidder. The gal comes out and wanted to know what I had named my skidder as she thought all vehicles needed a name.
I told her I had called it quite a few things when its broken down on me, but I had never actually named it.
Let it name itself based on it's performance. Like animals, they always bring a name to mind based on their actions.
