I have been getting low balled by this turkey for years now. Finally today I came across one of his plats that a client gave me to retrace and add topo/trees to. It was full of violations of our minimum technical standards. I can live with a slip here and there but this thing had about 6 glaring violations. Plus his reputation precedes him. Submitted it to the board this afternoon. Damn it feels good!

The first post would be ok with the board, the second should get your hands slapped by them. It is the boards job to review your complaint, investigate and then choose what if anything to do, which then becomes public. You now may be subject to civil charges brought up against you with that post, even a successful defense will cost more than money. Maybe you can delete it now.

He doesn't appear to be online now. Someone might want to give him a call.

Bad karma...

I got one?

Me too...I got one of them licenses...

I would not take it as slander or libel to announce that I had a PS license...

how is it bad karma or libel if it is true? we need more surveyors that are not afraid of repercussions if they call out substandard work.

should i post the plat?

if wendell sees this as inappropriate please feel free to moderate as you see fit.

On that same subject, how do you turn somebody in who's doing substandard work and isn't licensed??

I agree 100%, Jud. For the OP to post the fella's name and # in public proclaiming that according to the OP's opinion, and ONLY the OP's opinion at this point, the fella was 'guilty' of some violations of MTS, or whatever, borders on unethical conduct in and of itself. Ga. ethical standards, and I imagine every where else, only require that suspected violations of BOR regulations be reported to the board, NOT that the person filing the complaint act as judge and jury for the public.

I understand due process. I made a mistake by posting his name now. I will follow up AFTER the BOR has made a decision with details. Sorry for my lack of judgment.

Typically you turn them into the same agency; ie the state board who oversees licensed professionals. The board would then pursue charges of performing surveying without a license.

Ralph,

Make a complaint to the Board. The Board does not actually prosecute, they determine if an investigation is warranted. If a licensed individual is named and they determine an investigation is warranted they send it to professional discipline office. If unlicensed is named and investigation is warranted they send it to attorney general office.

When I read the title of the thread, I figured you finally got one of my jokes. However, calling it one of several violations had me wondering.....

If it is someone from NY, you file a complaint with the Office Of Professional Discipline. They will send the individual a letter telling him to stop and if subsequently the individual continues, it can be turned over to the Attorney General or local DA for prosecution.
