I soooooooo want one of these. Put a gps rover on the top, get a height measurement, set the data collector to stop and go measurements, and topo is complete. Wonder iif it has a remote control somewhere. I saw the gyro cam on top.

Forget those long hikes up and down through the woods with ticks, snakes and other creatures bad for your health, this is going to be great!

That spinning eye is a Velodyne HD32e that can acquire up to 700k points per second at <2cm. Topo would be better completed with LiDAR, though the bouncing steps could make a trajectory tough with GPS/IMU. Perhaps SLAM would be a better technique for the creation of a map. I think a drone would be better.
