I was perusing the search function and came up with this thread.

https://surveyorconnect.com/threads/i-vow.320537/#post-320545

I was hoping some more people could expand on this and give some insight as to why HUD ALTA's are so despised?:excruciating:

I have one that will be popping up very soon and would also like some general insight as this is my first HUD version. I've read through the HUD "Surveyor's Report" to get a general idea.

Thanks All!

my experience with HUD ALTAs is that they take forever to close after the survey is complete. I've had a survey take 6 or 7 months to close - so long, in fact, that that original survey became stale and we had to update it before the property closed. There's also the added step of filling out the form, which is a PITA, especially on complicated surveys. Otherwise, not much different than a non-HUD ALTA.

My experience is that there's a huge increase in time required to respond to phone calls and emails and to make multiple map revisions having to do with presentation rather than substance. Whenever the acronym HUD appears on a work request, I add $1,000 to my fee estimate.
