I was reading an article (really a sales pitch) on the web site of a large engineering and surveying firm and was amused at the graphic of the guy gripping the tripod.

I've seen others where the instrument was visibly not even level.
If both knobs are on the right hand side, what is he turning on the left side?
He's counteracting the pressure from his right hand!
I have a Topcon level that has the focus on the right side and horizontal motion knobs on both ends of its shaft. The knobs aren't in the right place for that model, but I wouldn't rule out the same idea for others.

Party pooper!
I know, right? Like this photo of Andy Johnson's new field crew. That instrument is obviously out of level!
that's awesome!
And somebody needs to straighten up that rod.... er.... wait a minute. I did not just say that. Never mind. :-$

I know surveyors still use levels, but why is every ad for surveying a level and a guy with a hard hat. I seldom use either. At least he isn't wearing a flannel shirt too. Ugh.
Just noticed this great website also uses a surveyor with a hardhat and a level. o.O
With his hand on the tripod no less.:-P
I love where this convo is going... maybe it's time for a whole new logo. 😉
why? you gonna put him in flannel? lol
> I love where this convo is going... maybe it's time for a whole new logo. 😉
lol....Yeah. You need to put his left hand on a knob on the other side of the level. 😀
He was in the process of setting up!! give the guy a break. Getting ready to take a solar on the Sanibel Lighthouse in the distance!
Look People...
We do actually have to "touch the equipment" ahem, to get the job done, so I don't see what the big deal is.
I was on a job site once when a newspaper photographer stopped and asked if he could take a few pictures. I think he ended up not using them becase the instrument man wouldn't put his hand on the tripod when the guy asked him to.
Man, this is a tough crowd!

I know Jeff. No white boots after Labor Day? Gonna have to rethink my entire wardrobe. Next thing you know they will be telling me no white SOCKS at meetings either. When that happens I am doomed.

Larry, just don't wash your socks for a few weeks before a meeting. 😉
