Surveying technology today makes surveying a great career choice for women, with so many fields! (in more ways than one).

We only have around 4 LS in South Oz out of around 150 LS.

I know of 3 in Georgia. All 3 do good work and don't mind getting dirty when called for.

This might belong in "Land Surveying" or even "P/R".

I personally know 1/2 dozen. I would say the ratio of female to male Surveyors is similar or better than the ratio of female to male Professional Engineers.

On a similar note I would say females are also poorly represeneted on garbage trucks.

I must personally know at least a dozen female PLSS's in this state, probably more. I haven't counted them, but I am guessing there are more than some of you think.

As far as "poorly represented on garbage trucks"; define "poorly". 😉

I know 3 personally.

#1: Former mentor: Top notch, I have the utmost respect for her. (Her and another female co-worker were about the best line cutters I've ever seen... Clean and efficient. Much better than about 95% of guys I've worked with)

#2: Sec./Treas of our VAS Chapter. I've never seen her work, but I'm assuming that it is also of the highest order considering her character.

#3: She retired about 3 years ago from a local A/E/S firm in another city near me and moved to NC. A very good egg.

I also knew of another locally that her husband was also an LS and she was also a PE. I think he stamped everything though. Their work was typically pretty sound, but I don't know if the worked in the field with crews or together. They moved in about 1993±.

I know of a few, but a female PLS is president of our local chapter. She is licensed in both North and South Carolina.

I believe she also hails from Australia...Darwin, the north territory!

There are over 40 in NY State, most of them in rural areas. The current president of NYSAPLS is a woman, Patricia Pauli Brooks.
