Here is nice story about a non-surveyor who had a true appreciation of our profession and history:
The Boundary Walker
Enjoy!

Great read. Thanks for posting.
I spent yesterday marking line through the woods with a client who was about 70 years old. He keep right up with me and I always enjoy talking to older people, with great stories.

Anybody.. and that's most of us here who gone out on a trek in search of an ancient monument and found it, understands the passion that fueled this man. Great read. Seems like there's a certain surveyor in Nebraska who spends lots of time and energy tracking down old survey marks. We all enjoy reading about his exploits when he posts here about them. Thank you Mr Penry
