This involves Section 7 and 18, T17N, R16W, MDM.?ÿ Section 7 has been seriously messed up by multiple "experts" pincushioning each other (Norman Glover, Peter Joos, Oscar Larson was involved at some point, Jim Conkright, CDF, Brinsky and Fred Lambert, CDF), all deceased.?ÿ Conkright tried to fix the Section but died before finishing so Brinsky and Lambert finished the survey and filed it in 1987.?ÿ Section 18 is cleaner because the current solution is primarily by William K. Dodge, LS3184.?ÿ Section 7 is the subject of a published case, State of California v. Thompson, 22 Cal. App. 3d 368 - Cal: Court of Appeal, 1st Appellate Dist., 2nd Div. 1971.?ÿ The Court reversed and there was a second trial which ultimately ended substantially the same as the first but slightly different because Joos apparently was unable to agree with anyone at all for any reason, he always changed things a little.

Dodge did a Record of Survey in 1973 of Sections 8, 18 & 19.?ÿ He set the northeast corner of 18, a typical Dodge rebar with tag on top next to a 2x2 stake (reported to have an LS1880 tag on top, that is Glover).?ÿ Glover and Dodge were partners.?ÿ Later Joos working for Thompson on the second case pincushioned Glover's stake with a pipe 2 feet east which is nuts, it is crazy steep terrain, Fred Stickney's 1880 field notes indicate this area was a big slide which I can believe so the original corner disappeared not long after it was set.?ÿ Glover was Thompson's first expert who pincushioned himself at the center quarter but 500 feet away, this case is crazy.

Conkright replaced Joosƒ??s pipe with the concrete monument.

Here is some photos, I will follow up with a few photos of the maps after this post.

Norm Glover got around -- he did a lot of work in Yolo County in the late '50s and early '60s.

Looks like a great place for a least squares and then drive a new one. ???? ?ÿ I kind of laugh when I see a pin cushion that small for a section corner.?ÿ In my area the original government surveys were done about 1817 and the accuracy was around 1 in 100.
