Crew gets back today and there is a huge crack down the side of the TSC2 where the cradle is. So much so that it pushed part of the plastic in and created a cracked dent.
I've had these things blown over by the wind before and I've NEVER seen the controller case crack when in its cradle.
I have a sneaking suspicion that a certain someone who likes to over tighten things caused the crack. Now this thing isn't weather resistant.
Can these things be taken apart safely so that I can re-seat the plastic and then repair with epoxy? I see there are a series of alanhead button screws around the back.
Am I wishing too much to try this myself?
Yes to your last statement. But give it hell Harry, right after you download, back up, and verify that you have a backup D/C.

The seams in these things have rubber gaskets that seal out the moisture, so once you open it once it will not be weather proof - even if you do manage to perfectly seal up the crack in the case. You could, I suppose, order a new gasket and do the job yourself but I doubt that would save you much money.
So you can pay them now, or pay them later.
Someone tightened it too much. Taking it apart yourself will probably void any warranty you have on it, send it in for a fix if you can.

I'd send it in- sooner in- sooner back.
Only in a fit of rage.
Did the crew use the proper clamshell clamp?
We saw a number of cracked housings in the earlier days of TSC2's when users would use their old TSCe clamps. The TSCe clamps clamp from the side and would crack the TSC2 case for sure.
We have seen some of the clamshell clamps crack the case from way overtightening them.
Open at your own peril....you might be able to seal it up...and maybe not.
