I am looking for a 2 Meter GPS pole that is also graduated as a level rod, is there such an animal?

I will be locating existing storm structures in the grass median of the interstate. I was thinking that I could just run a level run as I locate the boxes but trying to not have to carry two rods or use a third man.

You could make your own using the repair stickers for level rods...

Hi

Looking at it the other way round you could mount a antenna/receiver on top of your levelling staff. Providing that to can also attach or carry your survey controller etc.

Many years ago I had an adaptor made to mount a prism on stop a levelling staff to turn it into a 5m pole. It was cheaper than buying a pole and having extra gear.

There is now listed on ebay a similar item "Mini Prism Adapter for most aluminum rods (Surveying Construction total station)" I would still make an adaptor for GPS/GNSS gear. Take the top section from and old pole with the mounting thread and tape it to the staff for example.

I've got a black, carbon fiber SECO rod that's like that. But the graduations stop at 4.20

It's a 2 piece collapsible, but extends to 2M.

I've seen them in glo yellow also.

Also, some fiberglass level rods have a female 5/8" adapter in the top, so you just need the double ended bolt to screw on a GPS.

Pretty sure both the SVR rods from Crain and the SK rods from Sokkia have the female 5/8" x 11 on top.

I think the Sokkia rods have the female 5/8x11 threads on them. You just need a male to male threaded adapter for a prism/receiver.

I am almost positive that the Crain rods have a much smaller threaded insert that requires a special adapter on it to accept a prism.

Thanks everyone for the ideas. I really like the seco rod, just wish the markings were also on the inner pole for the full height. I have an older 2 piece 2M pole that is almost 2" in dia. I think I am put one of the level stickers and put on it for a test run. I keep a couple around because I set em on building sites as ready backsights for my level work.

If that does not work I will slap a nipple in the top of the level rod and give that a spin, even if the DC will not mount to it.
