I read a similar " cross-access easement" once, although the buildings existed.
A twenty something story building and a slightly shorter building eventually "swallowed" a vacated alley that originally separated them with remodeling. A large foyer was constructed with one street level entrance to allow pedestrian traffic to enter either structure. The calls in the easement included footages but also called out column numbers on one of the buildings.
I agree it was probably the legal boyz trying desperately to justify the oxygen they suck out of our environment. Someone was stupid enough to supply them with some arky-text-ural drawings and they ran with it.
