I just read an interesting tid-bit about George Washington and his birthday. Officially it is listed as February 22nd. At the time of his birth it was really February 11th. But...

At some point during his life Great Britain (and their colonial holdings) swapped the Julian Calendar for the Gregorian variety, causing George to add an additional 11 days to his actual birthdate.

Now you know the rest of the story.

I always thought he "demanded" to be included. Apparently thats not the case. 😉

Washington was born in 1732.
Great Britain (and the Colonies) adopted the Gregorian Calendar in 1752.

Apparently those Colonists didn't want to do everything differently...
