We have a South S10 controller running SurvCE 5 for RTK GPS and on the weekend got caught in torrential rain. I understand that this DC is the same as CHC LT30 GPS/GIS handheld. Now the screen only shows the bottom right quarter. I pulled it apart and there were a few drops of water inside. I have dried it out under the aircon but no change. Everything else seems to function, and I have been able to PC connect and backup the internal drive. Any thoughts on a fix would be appreciated.

I heard somewhere (maybe here) stick electronics in a bag of rice and it absorbs any moisture.

I tried the rice bag for a few days but no improvement so had to get a replacement screen, USD250. Relatively easy to install and it's working. From what I read on the www, the advice is that if you are in the rain and the screen starts going bad, switch it off immediately to try and stop it frying, then dry it out and hope for no permanent damage.

Worked on my cell phone that went through a full wash cycle.

PS - use UNCOOKED rice....it seems to work better...;)
