I can't find the hook for measuring up on  a Leica GS14. Can I just measure from the mark to the bottom of the ant.? thanks for your help

Leica uses the term Mechanical Reference Plane (MRP) instead of the more common (in the U.S., anyway) Antenna Reference Point (ARP).  In the case of the GS14, the MRP is the bottom of the circular stub on the underside of the unit.

Yes. That is what I do. I use a folding ruler rather than a box tape. I will cut a hundreth to account for the slant.

Please check your settings in LGO or Infinity to make sure that it is not adding 0.360 meters to your height reading. For example, if you are using an antenna type of GS14 Tripod it's default configuration is that you are using a Leica height hook and the Leica software will add 0.36 meters to it to get the height to the ARP.

Only if you are using the 'hook' with the proper carrier and post.  If you are measuring to the ARP then there is no vertical offset.  You need to specify the antenna type as GS14 pole or pilar.  The 'tripod' option adds the 0.360 m to the reading while 'pilar' or 'pole' applies and offset of zero.

Yes, Dane said that he had misplaced his height hook so I assumed that he was using the GS16 as an RTK base station or for static observations AND that he had the appropriate Leica carrier either a GRT144 or GRT146.

I too have found some of the Leica carriers don't have the hook "hole" at the right spot. IIRC one of those with that problem can be an older SNLL121 plummet. For my static GPS setups I use a Leica tribrachs without an optical plummet. I use an SNLL121 to setup on the point, then switch to a GRT144/GAD31 or a GRT146 to measure the hook height and attach the antenna.
