Well... March has come in and not like a lamb or even a lion. More like a really upset woman. The winds here have been terrible. Was doing a survey with the GNSS equipment and laid the rover up against the pickup. One of those high gusts knocked over my rover. All good except the clip holding the TSC7 to data collector holder. That was the second time in many years. Looked up a replacement and of course, the whole bracket and mount is $260. You can by the holder separately for $70. All I really need is that small piece of plastic. Did a goggle search and came across this site on Etsy (normally not my site) KR3DPrinting. Bought a couple for $15 each. Easy to replace. Back up and running with spares. HOLD on to those POLES BOYS!

Hate it when that happens.
Years ago had a Trimble 5700 with a geodetic antenna set up in a wide open glacial river area with a repeater. When we set up in the morning it was dead calm and we were a mile away when suddenly the winds picked up from 0 to 50 mph with gusts to 70, in the space of 15 minutes. I look down at the controller and could see I wasn't getting radio so we beat it back to check on the base asap fearing the worst. Full panic attack, base was gone, radio, legs, everything. Found it scattered for hundred of yards garage sale style along the river bed. Big gust sent the everything airborne and rag dolling. Miraculously everything worked fine next time around and I started carrying sand bags in the truck to weigh down the legs. Those ground plane antennas turns out make good kites.
Just because I'm paranoid, doesn't mean they aren't out to get me.

And frisbees
(only after their retirement of course)
I keep a couple of these in the truck, they work great, if you don't have to carry them too far -
@williwaw I never had my ground plane turn into a kite. Had some curious cows knock over my base unit though.
We had a bear knock our base down and chew the foam out of the case. Had almost made it to our search coordinates in very rugged terrain when the signal was lost. Saw the bear, a relocation from the Aspen area judging by the ear tag.

Can't blame him...what respectable bear wants to live in Aspen anymore?
