I have been working with Foresight for a short time. We had a few issues but things were relatively OK for several months. In the last couple of weeks the following message has begun to pop up and I don't know what to do about it.
"No geoid file found for your geoid record. Do you want to remove the geoid from the Zone" OK or Cancel?
It will take 20 to 25 clicks on either one to clear it. The data collector has the correct geoid stored in it. The raw files are a combination of RTK shots and normal traverse loops and sideshots. The message doesn't always pop up. Anyone familiar with this?
Thanks

Alan,

Sorry, I have never seen that message.

Good luck,
Jimmy

What Geoid file are you using in your Data Collector? We have
Geoid 09. I wonder if that is a problem because FDXM doesn't list
09 in its Coordinate System Database file (CSV).

DXM needs a corresponding geoid file that covers the same area as what is used in the data collector. You can copy the file from the controller onto the PC.

Daniel, I have the Geoid file on my PC as I loaded it into the data collector from there. Where specifically should the file be placed or where in Foresight do I reference it?
Thanks, Alan

Alan,

Sorry. Just now back on the Board for a minute. Most of my jobs are "local" that I use the GPS for. I don't use very much of the functionality of DXM other than just looking at the raw data files, and exporting points as needed.

Sorry I could not be of more help.

Jimmy

Are you surveying in state plane coordinates or are you on a local coord system?

The message sounds like the geoid grid file does not cover or include the location of the field data.

Does the geoid appear in the 'tools-coordinate editor' window?

Did you make a subgrid for the data collector?

Yes we are surveying in MS Grid. The raw file is a mixture of RTK and conventional. The message doesn't always pop up but when it does, it's 15 or 20 times. We have Geoid 09 in our Data Collector and I bet that's the problem but haven't figured out how to get it into the CSD file. And, no, our Geoid is not in the list. Do you know how to get it in there?

OK I just added Geoid09 to our ForesightDXM.

Fist you need the Geoid 09 file from trimble 'G09US.ggf' (~33494kb)
You can get it here: geoid file

paste this file into 'C:Program FilesCommon FilesTrimbleGeodata

start Foresight and open Coordinate System Editor ... Record...Create New Geoid.

Do some editing and give it a name like 'GEOID09(Conus)' and type in the G09US.ggf
