It felt like 2006 around the office...we were flying around here trying to get projects out the door.

compute this, check that, revise this, add that, print color copy for presentation, print 12 paper copies for P&Z board (what a waste of paper)...sigh..it was nice...

Same here. We had about 6 large projects due all last Friday. We got them all out. But know it is figuring out how to get the phone to ring.

It's always amazing how much you can get accomplished under such conditions. Ain't it a grand thing!

Then when it slows, there is no motivation whatsoever so it takes 3 times as long.

Work expands so as to fill the time available for completion

What you are referring to is known as Parkinsons Law, I have tested it and it is amazingly true, a good project manager will know this law and use it.

That's a good find there Boundary, never heard it before. It's always interesting how events and trueisms in human nature somehow derive a label or become a syndrom. I guess it gives the academia crowd something to do, or would that be an oxymoron for Parkinsons Law

Kinda like Murphy's Law & The Peter Principle. More trueisms.

Then there is Alfred E. Newmans "What Me Worry" motto (always loved that one). Lest we forget Forrest Gumps catch line "...life is like a box of chocolates.."
