2 months ago I had a Ranger DC that the screen 'touch' quit working. Still booted up and the OS seemed to work fine...just couldn't 'tap' anything.
Just so happened that afternoon the GeoShack sales rep stopped in on his way back to Richardson. A quick phone call to the shop and he tells me that the screen needs to be replaced (made sense since the backlight quit working before this). 3 day turn-around and about a grand.
Get after it.
After 1 week: haven't got to it yet..we'll UPS you a loaner. Ok...cool.
After 2 weeks: Tech on phone: "I replaced the screen and the board fried. It's toast." I asked how much to replace the board and the screen...2 grand. Get after it.
Finally after 4 weeks I called. They were still working on it...some garbage about putting the wrong board in it...just use the S/N on the back and not the encrytped S/N on the screen.. (WTF!?)...we'll ship it tonite.
Pleeze.
Two weeks ago I called again. Nathan (DC repairman) has quit. Things are messed up. "What did you say your company name is?"....My suggestion was they keep the one they have and I'll keep the loaner.
"You have a loaner?"...(WTF! x2) and again.."What's the name of your company?".
It's been two months and these guys won't even give me the courtesy of a BS "we're working on it" call.
What would you do?
Me, sorry I'd keep the loaner until.... When they finally call looking for it, say "Oh that guy, sorry he quit, don't know nothing about a loaner" When and if they ever fix your unit and safely return it to you, then you might accidentally find that loaner. I hate promises that don't get kept by folks who don't know what they're doing, or at the very least don't care.
I would say the ball is in their court. If the loaner works for you, keep using it until they call or send your DC back.
Send them the story about the rugby player who played half a match with a ruptured testicle that had to be surgically removed after the game. Explain how he is your cousin, but you and all the other cousins always called him Sissy Boy because he was the wimpiest one in the family.
I'd buy the used Ranger 300 with robotics and GPS I advertised two weeks ago, would have a up and running DC for no fuss, no muss. But wait, I already did that....
Now I'm confused...
Seriously, it is still available if everything doesn't work out.
I would say thanks, bye.
Do you have a loaner.... Nope this one is mine, you fried yours.
:good:
Had a similar situation a while back. Nothing but the run around from the local/regional dealer. I went over their head to the 'brand x' national HQ and told them my story. As the local dealer was giving their brand a pretty bad name by their lack of effort, they were more than happy to quickly resolve the issue.
 :good: :hi5:
