Medical Marijuana has been legal in Oklahoma for a few months now.?ÿ I have prepared R/W docs for my rural co-op client on two or three work orders for construction on new grow structures.?ÿ This is the first time I've seen it labeled as such on the work order...as Mr. Dylan said, "The Times They Are A-changin' ".?ÿ
We have been doing those types of projects for a couple of years now. Even measuring distances between retail sales buildings and schools.
Grow House or Barber Shop or whatever, I wold have labeled it brick, wood frame or metal, etc.
"new grow structures"?ÿ
Another new word dreamed up by some brainiac in the planning department that means greenhouse. ?????ÿ
They may not be greenhouses which rely on the sun. They may be solid walled and roofed with artificial lighting.

The size, velocity and frequency of hail here in the prairie rules out traditional "green houses".?ÿ Around here a "grow house" is a 10,000 sq. ft. steel and concrete affair with two perimeters of concertina wire and heavy security.?ÿ The give away is usually the large banks of HVAC equipment on the roof and the 15kV power grid primary terminated at the site.?ÿ Most of them also have diesel APUs for backup..in similar size to a three story hospital.?ÿ
I guess growing weed down in the creek bottoms is a thing of the past for Okies... 😉
Been State legal here in Oregon for a while. People really are secretive about it.... they call and "Just need to have a land surveyor 'verify' a distance", and then more questions lead to it being "about 1000' from a school or church". And then eventually it comes out that it is a "Dispensary" and finally a "Dispensary of Cannabis", which we knew from half way through the very first answer they gave. ?ÿ
It has recently emerged that there is a huge surplus of marijuana in Oregon. Apparently, 3 years after legalization, there is a 6 year supply of the hippy lettuce on hand and local prices are plunging. Too bad we can't export it.
