Looks to me like on Ramsey's map those failings on the monument match Survey 40933? Am I missing something?

Anytime I think about working downtown, I plan on some budget to go over things with Erric or Brady at Chase Jones. No one has more survey records and or ties to the Ramsey Tac's than they do in their records.

The current survey is not Ramsey's map. This is a portion of Ramsey's Map:

It does show "fallings". These are usually taken to be the differences between plat and actual measure rather than fallings, although I suppose a case could be made to hold falling the fallings shown by Ramsey. SN40933, from 1978, does so. But that only makes things worse for this current surveyor.

Where are the streets and other improvements in the right of way? Showing them on surveys is standard procedure in my area. Particularly in downtown areas of major cities.

AStopper, ProMark 2s Are Suifficient For Control

In State College you will never be more than a few miles from PSU1 CORS. With that in mind you will always have 3 receivers to get adequate ties for control points. In fact at short distance L1 only solutions are generally more precise than L1/L2 solutions. As such you do not need to purchase software, as GNSS Solutions in L1 mode is free.

I would suggest you get two fixed height GPS rods with 3 legged bipods, for ease of use and consistent antenna elevations. It only takes a few minutes to teach anyone how to set up a ProMark 2. I taught two individuals today

Sometimes the best answer is to think small.

The cheapest way to improve on the above is to get a third or even fourth PM2.

I've had serious errors with the free GNSS Solutions.
Running the same data through twice and getting different answers.
Getting answers that were hundreds of feet off, etc.
Be aware.

yes but

> That was my second observation prompting a WTF(!?!) reaction. He calls the old CL mon off by some little smidge, but reports a block with perfect right angles and perfect dimensions.

Pretty much bang on center. Curb and building lines only rarely shown on urban surveys in this area.
