I had a call from a long lost cousin yesterday. He and his brother were going to be passing through town and wanted to stop and have lunch. It had been ten years since I had seen this cousin and I was probably six when I last saw the other cousin. They’re much older than I am since Dad was 52 when I came along. During lunch, the cousin I hadn’t seen since I was a kid started telling me stories about working on my Dad’s crew. It seems my Dad and barbed wire fences never did get along! (I always thought that just happened when he got older) I never knew it, but he worked with Dad more years than I did and ended up surveying 43 years before retiring (never licensed though). We also talked about the fact that my Dad and his three brothers all surveyed at one time or another. Dad and one more stayed in it. Very cool lunch.
Very cool.
I don't even know any of my cousins.
My 2nd cousin Darell I keep in touch with. He is now Mayor of Wellington, FL.
I know very few of mine. We're all so scattered out over the country... They were all a lot older than me, so there was never much of a connection.
That's the only reason I have a FaceBook account. I don't do much posting there but I now know where a lot of my long, lost cousins reside.
I only have five first cousins and one sibling. We haven't ever all been in the same place at the same time. Closest we came was about 1957 which was before the youngest cousin was born. The rest of us were all together one day. On that day we were 17, 15, 11, 11, 10 and 4. I was 4 so don't remember a whole lot about what happened. Four of the cousins grew up about 650 miles distant and the other one was more than double that distance.
Not only cousins, but I have brothers and sisters that I've never met.

Stacy,
Any lunch with you would be enjoyable. Take care my friend.
I have no first cousins. Both of my parents had no siblings. Family gatherings for holidays were quite small.
