Does anyone know of any entity or individual who can draw simple survey plats. I could send them a good number of them to draw. Most are fairly straight forward.

I tried the overseas option, but it was a pathetic experience.

My family is from Alexandria. Know any Glankler's out there? My uncle is a retired architect there.

I have two 18 year old kids graduating from school in a few weeks. I have been training them Carlson 2014 and the are both doing great. Both of them want to work for Dad for the summer, but do not care much for the outdoors work and I do not have enough drawings to keep even one of them busy.
Email in profile if you want to talk more.

Maybe it is time to look at a field-to-finish product.

I was training Drafting and Design Technology majors in Tupelo, MS, to draw survey plats as one of their skills needed for the workforce. Administration determined that there was no need for people with those skills! How did you slip through their bean counting fingers?!

Rant off.....!

I do my own drafting work when it rains or at night. It bugs me to have to do drafting work when the sun is shining. The need is out there. It looks like you have some good leads already.

It certainly seems like a good job for a retired or semi-retired person to get in to. Good luck with finding someone.

Frank your local community college has a drafting and design technology program.

A recent grad or a last year student may be able to do what you need.

I vote for the two 18 year old sons of a land surveyor...what better place to spread the wealth. Not only that, they could have their dad look their work over and give them some pointers...

Julie Immler used to do that kind of work exclusively. That was back when she posted on POB. I haven't heard from her in many years though.

Frank,

I had a someone call me from Alabama the other day offering drafting services. She presented herself very professional over the phone, and sent me a copy of her resume, and work samples. If I needed help drafting, based on our conversation and what she sent me, I don't think I would hesitate in using her. If you send me your e-mail, I will forward you what she sent me.

Frank, for my Two cents worth....

With Cad today it is better to step up to plate and deliver field to client, as time is wasted preparing mud map with all details , then directing and then finally checking finished product.

You will also waste time training any one not experienced in exactly what is required in surveying drafting as you will end up sending drawing back and forth. I recollect in hand drawn days how every one said that they could draft. It is a special art, even now on CAD.

Drafting a land survey without ever seeing the site?:'( I'm not surprised your overseas venture didn't pan out.

The average office drafter NEVER sees the project site. That's why complete field notes, heavy use of Carlson Field to Finish codes and Google are so VERY important.
In the 35 years that I have been with this company I have visited the sites less than half a dozen times. Field crews do the field checks. The useage of Carlson Survey and a good F2F setup has reduced the costs and improved quality and completeness dramatically!!
