After yesterday's discussion about blow and go procedures by contractors concerning control, I have a question. What kind of disclaimer do you guys use on your engineering plans, about survey control?
We are about to send a set of engineering plans out the door, and the engineer asked me to look over the survey notes. He has a note on there about contacting us with control questions but that is about it. Is there anything you can say to protect yourself against these idiots?

Not much, other than keeping complete notes on everything used or set for control and how it was used or set.

As you know, or should know, there is no such thing as "FOOL" proof. There are too many fools and they are too inventive.

😛

We always have a note about the datum, something like:
The horizontal datum is based on the West Virginia State Plane Coordinate System, South Zone, NAD83(CORS96)(Epoch 2002.0000), U.S. Survey Feet, utilizing the WVDOT Real Time Network. The vertical datum is based on NAVD88, Geoid 09.

There was weasel statement going around years ago that read something like this.

The liability for the land surveying services is limited to the amount billed.
