Curious if anyone knows anything about this Dietzgen Army(?) level?

Dietzgen Dumpy Level Model 6002F Serial 36505

The box is Stamped with a "US" marking and the instruction card is marked is a price of $300 dollars as well as "ARMY-U.S.M.A., WEST POINT, N.Y.-100-4179-55"

Back when I started surveying, 1978, we were using those Army surplus levels in northern Virginia. They are nice instruments.

So just what do you want to know? It shows up in the 1926 catalog and I could send you a scan of the specs if you send me your email to - ingram AT cfw DOT com.

The serial number dates it to about 1943.

An operator for our company found this at Goodwill for $15! He was excited to see if I wanted to purchase it from him, and I just had to...

Only thing missing is a target for the philly rod.

That was the cream of the crop until the auto level came out.

Also have an 18-inch Dietzgen Dumpy level of the same style down here in FL, SN 63195. If anyone knows what year it was made, I would like to know.

If anyone knows of a box, objective cap or sunshade, I am missing them.
