In a deed description, just exactly what would "pointers" be in regards to describing a corner monument?
In a deed I'm looking at now there are calls to "pointers", "pointers on branch", "Ash pointers", "stone and pointers" and "stone near red oak pointers".
I've seen the term "pointers" quite often so this is not a new term to me. Would like input from you guys on this.
Thanks.
pointers would refer to hash marks on trees
Witness trees - but not measured from the corner. Blazed or otherwise marked.
Typically it means that it wasn't surveyed well (or at all) and it was someone's attempt to show there was a reference tree that did everyone absolutely no good for the foreseeable future as an accessory to the corner. Well, at least around here it is. I'm glad it was a fad that went out of style very quickly here in my neck of the woods.
