I hope Dan doesn't mind, but I snapped this picture of our good friend while being interviewed at the conference about the history of the Arkansas Society of Professional Surveyors 50th Anniversary Conference. Dan is a great fellow, and has some really good stories. I'd love to get DDSM and Paden together around a bon fire ,and just listen for hours.
I had the opportunity to attend, and spend some time with some old friends, and made some new friends. I got to speak with some really great people, and learn a lot. Thank you to everyone who put in the hard work to put the conference together, the vendors, and the ASPS leadership. It was a great experience.
I think you may have been had by an imposter. DDSM is right-handed (I assume), but there is no Bowie knife in a sheath on his belt visible in the photo.
Jimmy,
The ASPS 50th Anniversary Conference was a throwback to the old AARLS Conventions. Did you notice how the classes reverted to 'war stories' and rembering the old days? Everything but the drunken brawls and duals...(that is why I left the 'sticker' off the belt). Thanks for bringing a few of your vintage books.
Kent,
There was a Gerber Gator in my pocket...and don't let the cane fool you... https://goo.gl/images/MaIPTC
...anyway...I'm old enough to know the difference between 'stand-up' and 'shut-up'

Dan,
I did notice, and sometimes you can learn a lot from the war stories. I enjoyed myself, and definitely enjoyed the conversation Thursday night at the bar. You, Mike, and Charlie are a hoot, and I could have talked for hours. I hate I had to head up to get some stuff done for the crews for Friday.
I hope to make it to the fall conference at Mount Magazine. I've been told it would be a great place for an extended weekend.
Take care, and I look forward to next time.
Jimmy
Jimmy, did you learn why it's called a "tooth" brush while in Arkansas and not a "teeth" brush? It all goes back to the great-great-great-great-great grandfather of most Arkansans.;);)
TTT...Classic DDSM post here.?ÿ
