I was curious because of the CraigList postings to see if there were any "surveying" comments or services being offered.
A quick search did find this ad by an unlicensed entity as described by CL for surveing services.

I believe you need to forward that link to your state licensing board. I know in Ohio it would not be taken lightly.
Absolutely forward to your licensing board..... would not be allowed in New York either.
I did forward it to both the LA and MS boards.
But if no action is taken, I will have to make a complaint by sworn affadavit.
Maybe if some other LA and MS surveyors can 'barrage' the boards with a a link, it may prompt a more faster response and investigation.
Why don't you just call and setup a series of fake appointments or have him stake out some corners in the really seedy part of town? (Block your caller ID first and offer cash upon completion)
I tried to reply to the post and it appears that the link is no good. I will be contacting the MS Board as well.
Robert the LA and MS board are investigating.
Love the ad.
Hire this guy and "maybe" find where your boundary is located.
Truth in advertising.
lives in Ocean Springs, MS
It's working now. I just sent him a "Nastygram".
Hey y'all, check this snit out!! I sent that Richard Cranium an email warning him that he was in violation of state regs. Here is his response:
"Finding lot corners for somebody is not illegal. I've done located mine, my brothers and fathers property corners just so they know where they are. I'm not trying to do plats and layout. Mind your business, I know what can be done by unlicensed surveyors. What I'm doing is for reference only not for building, etc. Its not for new home buyers, FEMA cert. or anything like that ."
"I know what can be done by unlicensed surveyors". Realy??!! 😀

Yeah, I know the damage that can be done too.
Ughhhh ... hopefully your state board will take care of this clown.
Now, what do you suppose the scary "BOARD" is gonna do?
Revoke his license? Not likely...since he doesn't have one. Hell, they cant' even levy a fine.
Nope. They will refer to the Attorney General (or the equivalent) who, [sarcasm]having nothing better to do[/sarcasm], will maybe send a sternly worded letter advising the bandit to cease and desist.
Oooooohhhhhh, scary. Unfortunately it is all any BOARD can do.
We have a few sh#$tty surveyors in our area, some of whom are licensed and bear the scars of a run-in with the BOARD, with no effect on their crappy work.
I constantly drive by a fellow's work here who surveys solo with a transit (that Lewis and Clark may have taken out west) and a cloth tape stuck in the ground with a screwdriver. He's one of the busiest guys around. Cheap too. Keeps all of our rates nice and low. When I offered the BOARD video tape of this guy in action not a single crap was given. When I offered his non-conforming plats, another crap was not given.
The only way to get these guys attention is to hunt them down, document their BS and somehow convince a client of theirs or a Title Insurance company to sue the crap out of them.
Good luck with that.
add is gone now...
still up via the link at the start of this topic.

Not for me. Try refreshing your browser, you may be loading from saved files.
Yeah, I just got a nastygram from him. He's removed the ad.
Now he claims that he works under the supervision of a PLS in firm that has been in business for "over a century".
BonJour!! On the internet you can be anything you want to be.
(There are no 100 uear old survey companies in my state nor any 100 year old engineering firms either.)
I imagine he felt Ms Rosemary breathing down his neck. (She's the Board Secretary and what she says goes. Nobody gives her any guff.)
