I have an old geodimeter job file from 2003, I need to convert it to Trimble job file in order to use it in Access.

has anybody done it before? I have converted all my files after 2004 to Access job files and I'm able to go back to those jobs and re-use them, but the 2003 file is created with geodimeter software.

General comment on backing up old files. We've used Geodimeters since 1981. All our work gets backed up in several different formats and once in a (very long) while gets moved onto new types of media. Currently we are shifting everything to a new set of memory sticks, checking as we go.?ÿ Out of 2000 jobs only a dozen or so files haven't been recoverable and all those have been on different jobs, so we still have 2 sets of data backed up for each job.

For Geodimeter raw data we would save it as TEXT and as CSV. From those you can then reformat to any style you want. Probably not worth writing a progmme to do it since the need is very rare and the changes which occur between versions of modern software still mean you have to tweak the data (because your fieldwork took advantage of an "undocumented feature" at the time : that "feature" of the software having been "debugged" at some stage, possibly many years after you started to use it!)

For outputs we would back up using three of the following?ÿ 1) in the format of the processing software, 2) DXF or DWG, 3) PDF, 4) CSV, Hard Copy.

Make sure your 1st, 2nd, 3rd. backups are all onto different manufacturers' products.
