I set a control point to do some pivot layout and boundary work almost 20 years ago. This was me using a 4700 base and a 5800 rover. Which at the time was super hi-tec stuff.?ÿ

I need to reset on the point since it's on a high hill and begin a rather lengthy boundary survey. So to refresh my memory I re-load the GPS file and plot the point on Google:

?ÿ

That is where the point appears when I plot it from my TBC file.?ÿ

Only thing is I don't remember any road and it looks to be in a road cut.?ÿ

My memory being what it is I began to think maybe I set a point on the road that led down into the valley below.?ÿ

So I went back in time and:

?ÿ

There it is in 2004.?ÿ

That's what I remember, why they went to the expense of building that road I don't know, maybe it will be clear when I get there, but I don't think there is going to be a control point. I'll have to so something else to get started, shame really, that thing sat on a perfect spot. And all I needed to do to avoid the road was move it over 30'

?ÿ

If you hunt around you might still find Neil & Buzz's footprints.
