I have a client that needs some layout done in Missouri. I just got the call about an hour ago. I am just starting to research this, and I thought I would put the question out there.

Is Construction layout regulated by the Missouri Board?

Thanks,
Jimmy

No, you don't have to be licensed for Construction Surveying in Missouri.

I just received word from the Missouri Board that you do indeed have to be licensed to perform construction layout. I spoke with the Board Investigator. Very nice guy, and most helpful.

Here's the link for the definition of Land Surveying. http://www.moga.mo.gov/statutes/C300-399/3270000272.HTM

Section 1 (11) does list layout improvements but look at Section 2. It says that these tasks do not have to done by a (Missouri) PLS unless they affect real property rights. For the purposes of this section, the term "real property rights" means a recordable interest in real estate as it affects the location of land boundary lines.

Maybe they want everyone to use Missouri surveyors to rebuild all these areas hit by the tornados. I agree with that if that is what they are doing.

Thanks for the clarification.

I'll have to pass on this one project, just don't want to take a chance. I am looking at classes (I need 4 hours) to meet their requirements to sit for the state specific exam.

One of my clients has what looks like alot of future work up there, so it will be worth pursuing.

Have a great weekend.
