First time in 35 years I've had a job close enough to use this Bench Mark.

:good:
I couldn't find it in a quick look in the NGS data base. Has the master elevation for such a large city never been entered there?
I don't know...a 3m stainless steel straight edge along the top of the bottom of the top stone...projected...0.04' therefrom...with GIS certainty...errr...or is that the top of the bottom stone?
Question...is a two pole chain equal to 10 meters?
I wish Little Rock had these kind of historic marks to measure to...
DDSM:beer:
Yes a two pole chain equals 10 meters (if you aren't building a swiss watch or the launching pad for the space shuttle, that is).
A two-pole chain is within the square root of 0.04 of ten meters.
It needs pink spray paint to make it official.

An Architural Firm was just selected to remodel the building, and with the permission of the city archeologist, they are going to refurbish the stone, and move it out of the flood zone to protect it!

Pseudo Ranger,
You're not one of those guys that puts a pink paint dot on every topo shot are you? When the projects done, it looks like polka doted nightmare.
BTW, drop me an e-mail if you don't mind.

Oh you have got those in California too? I just thought they were in Florida. Especially on FDOT projects.

Yes, one day at lunch time I was walking down Capitol Mall, the street leading to the State Capitol, and what do I see, flo pink dots all over the sidewalks, curbs, pavement, grass, light poles, FHs, everywhere. Is that really necessary?

Yes, those EFB four man crews are just to carry the cases of spray paint. I dont even keep a can in my truck.

Once worked for a guy who took the minimum shots that he thought he could get away with. While collecting data for a Main Street sidewalk and curb upgrade I was running the rod. He waved me off of what was needed for the job, went back at least 3 times to get everything needed. Several months later the Engineer needed more of the same at a different location. He told the guy I was working for that he wanted him and myself on the site with several cans of paint. Made us follow him all over the site while he spot painted every shot he wanted. I made sure we got them all and the owner was complaining, did not need to return time after time to get more data that time. Spot painting shot positions does have it's place, this case was a poor excuse though, returning to sites where he was with us happened often. He was fairly good with boundary's but when I would ask why he did something the way he did it in the hopes I might learn something, he got defensive. He was the reason I opened my office a year before I had planned, when I became registered, he wanted me gone, went into competition with him.

I like the ones that put a pink dot than they add a big circle around the dot to confirm its location! And sometimes adding 12" lettering like "CONTROL". LOL!
