It appears now that FEMA's Map Service Center is putting the 1% flood elevations on the cross sections that are mapped with the FIRMETTEs. Be sure to cross-check those numbers against the published Flood Insurance Study profile. I just found one that has the flood elevation 0.5' higher than given on the profile. I sent an email to FEMA to let them know. As far as I know, the profile is the authoritative publication. The FIRMETTE is a nice product, to be used with care and discretion.

Don't get me started on determining FEMA?ÿ BFEs. A 0.1 foot increment in a BFE is ridiculous. The methods used to determine a BFE do not warrant that degree of precision.
