I posted a while ago about "setting zero" on a leica 1200 - Thanks to help from this forum I can now set zero and any other angle I can think of! (Although I think it just decided to let me after Christmas)

Next question - The CF card - I took it out thinking it was merely a removable storage device which I didn't need, but when I recently tried to do the "Check and Adjust", I had to put it back in. Does that mean if I do "Check and Adjust" but take it out again, then nothing is being applied as the data is on the CF card?

It's just that with it in, the gun expects me to choose a job and input a station orientation before I can get to the survey screen, which is all I need to do.

the cf card is a storage device that must be on board during check and adjust. once finished, the values are stored in the internal memory and carried from project file to project file. you will see the values stored in headers of some of your format file exports, i don't remember which, specifically.

Colin,

Moe is right on the money. The only reason the CF card is required during the Check and Adjust routine is that some temporary files for all the measurements made during the routine is stored to the card until the procedure is finished.

You can always look at the values held as the adjustments by the following:

1. From main menu select 6 Tools...
2. Next choose 7 Check & Adjust..
3. Once inside Check and Adjust select option 4 Current Values
4. Using F5 (MORE) you can toggle the columns to see the values, date values were established, internal temperature of instrument at time of calibration, etc.

You can create a custom report by using a format file to export an ASCII file that would have everything from Check and Adjust if needed. That would need to be another post. It is easy but the explanation is long.
