If all else fails, save the .crd file as a .txt file, import that into your drawing file, then you can use that .crd file.

I thought that Carlson would read a crd file, all you have to do is pick that file as your coordinate file under "SET Coordinate File" in the point options.

The first thing I would to is to make sure the CRD file is actually a binary-based CRD file as opposed to a simple ASCII text-based file masquerading as a CRD. Opening the CRD file with something like Notepad might reveal the true contents of the file.

If the file contains what appears to be "machine-language" content, it is possible it is a CRD file and would then need to be tested for validity. This can be done via Carlson SurvCE (e.g. open the CRD file with SurvCE to see if the coordinate data can be listed) or from the Points menu in the Desktop software, click Set Coordinate File and specify the file in question. Once set as "active", you should be able to use the Points -- List Points command to see if there is any data that can be pulled from the file.

If the file contains "human-readable" content (e.g. ASCII data), you'd probably want to use the Points -- Import Text/ASCII File command to bring the contents of the ASCII file into the active CRD file.

If in doubt, the Carlson Technical Support Staff will be able to determine if the file is salvageable. If it has been compromised, the CRD file can be quickly regenerated from the RW5 file recorded by SurvCE. In SurvCE, you'd issue the File -- Raw File -- Process Raw File command. In the Desktop software, you'd issue the Survey -- Input-Edit Raw File -- Process (Compute Pts) command.
