I purchased a Carlson Explorer 600+ with SurvCE Version 2.61. I connected it to my Topcon Hiper Lite+ GPS unit. Every time I located a point the hour glass appeared and it takes about 3 to 5 seconds to record the shot. Is this normal? I have an old TDS Ranger, I believe its a 200 and it records the shot in about half of a second, Also the keyboard keys are hard to press and slow down progress when entering a point description. The Ranger has soft keys that can be keyed in rapidly. I don't know if I should sell the unit or be patient with it. I used a Lieca collector with the same type of keys and never really liked it. I wonder if all the new units are switching to that type of key board or if the ranger is still using the same soft key keyboard.
