Does Cal trans have a GIS system accessible by the public for their old acquisition maps for the freeway systems? If there is such an animal would someone please send me a link.

The area I am interested in is on the west side of the 2 Freeway (Glendale Fwy) Mountain Street on the south and Oakmount Drive on the north.

I've only dealt with a few Caltrans districts in the north part of the state, but in every case I make my request via e-mail and have to return a form stating the purpose of the request and whether or not the information will be used in legal action against Caltrans. If there's a self-serve online system, I'm not aware of it.

It would be nice if they just had their maps on-line. Around here we send them an email and they email us the appropriate maps.

My experience is the same as ER's.

Here are links to two PDFs that have contact names per District:

Click here to access the Surveys & Right of Way Engineering contact list

Click here to access the Surveys & Right of Way Engineering Data and Map files contact list

They have right-of-way maps and sometimes they have Monumentation Maps. They also usually have Control lists too; you may have to contact more than one person in the District.

The links appear to point at the same file despite the differing filenames. Nevertheless, thanks very much for posting this, as it provides all the district mapping contacts in a single document.
