Checking out there how you all do this. I consider myself a good construction surveyor, have over 15 years doing it. But I have yet to do this, so I was curious how some of you tackle checking a building core going up for level. Do you have points perpendicular to that point on the grid and sight up and down, then switch to the other faces? Or do you use the newer fan-dangled lasers for shooting straight up? Or is it much simpler than that? I imagine there a few different ways to skin this cat...but I am just looking for suggestions. The building I need to work on is around 8 floors.
There was a recent thread (within the last two months) addressing this very topic; I can't find it right off, but if you exercise the new search features here, I bet you'll find it. It was exactly on topic..plumbing an elevator core..but for an even taller building. There were many suggestions. Good luck.

By the way I cannot seem to find any search function on my iPhone...
After searching several times, I found the old post mentioned above. The last post is what I would think is the best method, have a couple new laser plumbs with sleeves. These things shoot deadly on the vertical, as I've used them for grids. Thanks guys.
