I'm having difficulty using the search feature of this website. I'm looking for posts concerning the use of an RS-232 to Bluetooth dongle to connect a Topcon DL-502 level to a Topcon FC-5000 tablet running MAGNET Field software.

I purchased this unit on eBay https://www.ebay.ca/itm/175086150619

Haven't confirmed it's water resistance but had it out all day connected to an old Nikon DTM-A10LG in the rain but wrapped in cling wrap, using a TSC2 with SurveyPro 5.6 and it work well all day. A couple of things about this unit...

It comes with no documentation whatsoever but here is what I have found out....

It only operates at 9600 baud. Some older instruments like the DTM-A20LG and DTM-A20 have a fixed baud rate of 4800 and it won't communicate with them. So if you can't change your baud rate to 9600 in your communications settings you are out of luck. My DTM-A10LG has the option to change the baud rate but ironically nothing appears in the settings menu in the A20LG or A20. If somebody know a way to change that it would be appreciated.

Not much in the way of range but it beats being tied to a cable. So far battery duration seems good. Hope this helps.

@ Frank Karau

Thanks, Frank. I purchased The Blutronium™ Serial Bluetooth Adapter from www.usconverters.com back in January.
