Hi guys!
I am now deciding based on the opinion and experience of many. I am taking the Brown Danner 10" Super Rain Forest boots. I contacted Danner itself but they are unfortunately not directly serving international buyers like me. They suggested for some international sellers.
Any idea guys?
Thank you and regards.
I have been using these Hi-Tec's for the last few years. I have been buying them at Fred Meyer in Oregon when they go on sale for around $60 a pair. They usually last close to a year.
Amazon appears to carry them: Brown Danner 10" Super Rain Forest. Will they not ship to the Phillipines?
I haven't tried amazon yet. My experience is only with ebay and direct company purchases. I'll try amazon this time. Thanks Jim. 🙂
Thank you for the info Norman. 🙂
Regards.
I was in need of some new boots so I looked here on this site for some suggestions. After all not many people put as many miles on a pair of boots in a year as do we.
I lived in the Portland, Oregon region in the 80's and 90's and one day, by chance, I passed the Danner Boot store when I was in need of some boots. I found a pair of seconds (had a water stain is all) and got them for $75. Most comfortable boot I had ever worn. I have been a die hard Danner fan ever since. Until now that is. I bought a pair two years ago. The military style. They were quite uncomfortable and wore out quickly. So two months ago I bought the same pair I have been buying for years. A pair of hunting boots. They only lasted two months before the toe came unglued. No big deal, I thought, Danner has always taken good care of me. Well, not anymore apparently. I called in to find out what to do about sending them in for repair and immediately I was given the run around and could tell the girl on the other end was reading a prepared response.
"These are hunting boots not work boots." I was told. "They are not designed to be worn all day every day." Forget the fact that I have been buying this same pair of $350 boots for the last 25+ years with hardly an issue. Apparently their hunting boots now are only made for the modern day hunter. The type that wants to drive around in his truck or on his 4 wheeler and drink beer all day. I was told that they probably wouldn't fix (stand behind) them because I wore them to work in. Even though they only lasted two months. What a joke. So then I took them to a local shoe repair dude. He told me that "yeah, Danner's are crap now days, they are being made in China." Being made in China and yet still charging an American made price. Needless to say this is the last pair of Danner's I will buy. Go look on the Danner web site now and see that it is full of reasons or excuses why they won't stand behind their product anymore.
I came on this site to get some other suggestions. I narrowed it down to Wesco's and White's. I chose the Wesco's. American made and with a full guarantee. Just like the Danner's used to be. I just got them today and am wearing them around the office to break them in some. So far I am happy with this purchase. The soles are actually sewed on for the front and toes and rivets in the heal section. Just like the Danner's of old.
Anyway, thanks for letting me vent. I feel better now.
My two cents... buy American, not faux American.
Better get back to work and quit goofing off on the interwebs.
Jeff
Ditto on the Danners.
Been thru 2 pair of the Quarry Loggers, now trying a pair of Acadias, very comfy.
> ....Danner's are crap now days, they are being made in China....
Some, rather most, Danners are made in China these days. Some are still made in Oregon. Watch for the made in USA tag.
