when I first saw this monument, I thought it was a private surveyors reset, it looked very much like an aluminum cap.
Then I saw it is a GLO cap and I wondered why the GLO was setting aluminum caps.
Closer inspection showed that it's a brass cap, but for some reason has patinated to this silver color:

The two bearing trees are still in place and standing strong which isn't always the case for this survey:

I keep one of http://www.homedepot.com/p/3M-2-875-in-x-4-875-in-x-1-in-120-Grit-Fine-Angled-Drywall-Sanding-Sponge-CP-042NA/202074116&apos ;">these in my vest pocket. Works great for cleaning up brass, copperweld, and aluminum caps, especially when they are oxidized or painted.
