Try right-clicking the setup program, then click Properties. Change your compatibility setting to Windows XP and tell it to "Run as Administrator". Click OK and try running setup again. Good luck. 🙂

Thanks. I had the XP checked, but after I get through d/l a bunch of patches, I'll give it a whirl as admin.

Thanks again Wendell

No problem, I hope it works out. 🙂

Windows 7 is more of a stickler when it comes to security, so some programs need to be run as Administrator. Anytime I use any program that may need access to more critical files, I automatically run it as Admin. This is actually a nice level of protection, as XP would just run everything as Admin if you were an admin user. Even W7 admins have to specifically say to run it as Administrator (meaning the actual Administrator account, not just a user in the admin group).

If running in XP mode doesn't work, you might even try dropping it lower than that, like Windows 2000 or even 98 (ugh). You might also find that after it installs, you need to run the program itself as Administrator also. You can either right-click the icon and click "Run as Administrator" or you can use my previous method of making it a permanent setting. Note that the permanent setting only applies to that particular shortcut.

I don't know your level of Windows knowledge, so I hope I'm not speaking down to you, that's certainly not my intent. 🙂

Anyone running tgo?

So, does anyone actually have TGO running in Win7? I got it to install in Vista after help from Scott Partridge, but not under Win7 yet.

Yes. I got it to run now. Do just like this thread says and it'll fire right up. Also, upgrade to v 1.63, new data transfer, Trimble config utility, and where you upgrade to 1.63, upgrade the coordinate system. It was like five dowloads.

My dealer said he didn't know of anyone running it in win 7 and Trimble doesn't support tgo in windows 7. You have to upgrade. Well to hell with that.

Anyone running tgo?

Got it running here by installing Terramodel first, then TGO, running Win 7 Professional x64 - surprised me, although the same trick worked on Vista as well. Right click and select "Run as Administrator" for both.

Anyone running tgo?

Steve: I am running it on Windows 7. I used Scott's directions for Vista and they sort of worked....actually the directions worked...it is just a few different menus in 7.

Seems to be working fine.

I suppose I should write a support document for installing it....after all of the other support documents I *should* be writing.

Anyone running tgo?

Lots of searching for a TGO Win 7 solution without much luck, but we finally got it running without any problems... so far.

This may be a repeat solution, but just in case, here is our steps for getting TGO working on Windows 7 64bit.

First:
Start Windows with the F8 key and select the option to disable digital signatures.

Next, right click on the TGO setup file and select compatibility mode. Apply XP service pack 2 and also toggle the install as administrator option.

Install TGO and the data transfer utility.

After the install is complete, apply the same functions to the 1.63 update. (XP service pack 2, and install Admin option)

That's it. So far it's working perfectly.

Good luck.

Thanks to all who suggested setting compatability with XP SP2 including Scott Partridge who sent me an email about this before any of the answers here,
