The crew found this tag on an old wood post at or near the southwest corner of Section 17, Block 35, Township 3 South, T&P Ry Co. Survey in northwest Glasscock County. I am unfamiliar with the markings on the tag and thought I would post it here to see if anyone recognized it.
I'm thinking this might be something associated with the seismic surveys. There has been seismic surveying in this area in the past where they have set iron rods and aluminum caps near the section corners (I don't particularly care for that practice)but this tag is new to me.
Looks like a claim corner or tract corner.

Yes, I'd assume seismic survey mark until proven otherwise. In aerial imagery, does a dozer trail lead right to that post with tag?
